Determined to create a permanent physical collection for her final degree project, Maris created a series of vessels which have then been fired in a paper kiln she built in her garden. This experimental way of firing is a result of the lockdown and not having access to studio space or equipment. The construction of this paper kiln inspired

her to layer newspaper and clay slip over a wire frame structure to create my vessels. Her vessels have been inspired by seed pods and plant matter that has been created through layering.

Now fired, the vessels have become delicate and fragmented ceramic objects.
